UW Medical Center-Montlake's Emergency Department has an outstanding opportunity for a Full-Time, Day Shift, PATIENT CARE TECHNICIAN. The Emergency Department provides highly skilled, state-of-the-art care to our surrounding community through evaluation and stabilization of emergency medical conditions and provision of appropriate education and follow-up. This mission is accomplished by providing 24-hour professional services utilizing Board Certified Emergency Medicine Physicians, Emergency Medicine Residents, Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners and Registered Nurses trained in Emergency Nursing and certified in ACLS and PALS.
The Patient Care Technician provides direct and indirect care to patients and their families under the general supervision of the Registered Nurse. Typical duties include assisting patients with activities of daily living, maintaining a safe environment of care, preparing patients for surgery, close observation of confused patients, transportation, maintenance of equipment and supplies, and clerical tasks. PCTs may serve in several roles, including, Constant Observer and General Unit PCT.

High School graduation and six months experience involving direct patient care or customer service in a health care setting; OR equivalent education/experience.
Legal Requirement
A Washington State Health Care Assistant, Level "A" certification is required within 6 months of employment. (This certification is required to perform venous blood withdrawal procedures and capillary blood glucose checks, and can be achieved through successful on-the-job training.)
