Assistant Technician - High Tech Service Division

We are looking to add talented assistant technicians to our team in the Hillsboro, Oregon area. - Requires independent follow through on tasks as directed

- Monitor data gathered and review the quality of the data before submittal

- Seek advice and consultation from more senior staff as needed
General Description: Testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) of environmental and HVAC systems involves work performed on-air distribution systems, hydronic distribution systems, and equipment and apparatus connected thereto. Typically, TAB work is performed after the installation of the environmental and HVAC system(s), including items such as ducts, piping, equipment, and apparatus have been accomplished by others.
Work includes performing tests, setting volume (flow) and speed adjustments, recording data, and preparing reports. Instruments used for this purpose include devices for measuring airflow, water flow, rotation, temperature, and electricity. They are typically hand-held devices such as pilot tubes, anemometers, flow measuring hoods, pressure gauges, tachometers, thermometers, pyrometers, psychrometers, volt-ammeters, and common hand tools (wrenches, screwdrivers, hand drills, etc.). Work performed usually involves the following: inspecting; making readings; adjusting dampers; and regulating devices, terminal units, supply outlets, return and exhaust inlets, fan coils, heating units, thermostats, strainers, and filers, balancing valves, etc.
Working Environment: This is a physically demanding position subject, in varying degrees, to any of the following work environments and constraints. All work must be performed with the utmost attention to safety for self and others.
- Working in new construction sites and existing facilities, including industrial, commercial, hospital, and education environments
- Working at elevation in excess of 20 feet, using fall arrest equipment (harnesses) and procedures
- Working in tight quarters
- Working on 6-14 ft. step ladders
- Working around operating equipment and systems
- Working indoors and outdoors
- Working with contractors, owners, and system operators
About You: The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
- Mechanical skills
- Strong math & basic computer skills
- Good communication skills
- Able to read and interpret various technical data and diagrams (preferred)
Additional Requirements: The ability to pass initial and ongoing background checks and random drug testing is a requirement of this position. High School Diploma/GED, and a valid driver’s license with a good record.
