As a major supplier of aggregates in Nebraska since 1921, Central Sand and Gravel Company, A CRH Company, has a long history as a mainstay of construction and development projects throughout the state – even supplying aggregates for one of Nebraska’s very first concrete paving projects.

 

Position Overview

Supervise and coordinate the activities of workers engaged in mining and processing of sand and gravel.

 

Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
Supervise plant employees in all aspects of aggregate production, including safety, dredging, processing, maintenance and quality control.
Communicate with the Operations Superintendent on issues affecting the business including personnel, safety, maintenance, upcoming jobs, competition, and pricing.
Assist in the process of training employees, directing work, appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees and addressing or resolving problems.
Work with Safety Department to ensure compliance with City, State and Federal regulations.
Ensure that equipment and facilities are properly maintained.
Work with the Quality Control Department to ensure products meet specifications.
Communicate with Central Dispatch regarding daily sales and customer issues.
Maintain all necessary records, including payroll, fuel and safety.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

 

Education/Experience

Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university; or 3 years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Work Requirements

Must be proficient Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
Must be 18 years in age or older.
Pre-employment physical, drug screen and criminal background check required.
Report to work dressed appropriately and ready to begin work at the designated start time.
Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Employee Handbook.
Willingness to work independently within in a team environment and assist the team with other duties as required.

Knowledge/Skill Requirements

Knowledge of aggregate production processes is preferred.
Ability to read and interpret MSHA safety standards and regulations.
Demonstrate a hands-on, collaborative approach; work well in a team.
Ability to deal with changing priorities daily and be multi-task oriented.
