As the CDC's Marketing Specialist you will design and evaluate campaigns to successfully market our objectives, services, and events by promoting the public's understanding of our mission – to open doors to permanent housing opportunities. This position will play a lead role in online engagement and community visibility, as well as the development of internal communications, marketing, and branding. Responsibilities will also include:
- Writing and editing newsletters and releases, web-content, blog posts, and other user content
- Coordinating media relations by identifying news opportunities, pitching stories, and coordinating interviews
- Developing internal, written, and visual presentations for CDC staff
- Researching and developing public information and marketing content through meetings with officials, staff, outside experts, and the interpretation of staff reports, planning documents, and other technical files
- Writing, editing, implementing, and evaluating strategic messaging, social media content, digital marketing strategies, and print communications campaigns
- Coaching staff on how to better engage the community, and researching and securing speaking opportunities
- Taking photographs, creating videos, and coordinating photo/video projects with outside contractors
- Collaborating with external partners to promote joint projects
EXTRA-HELP EMPLOYMENT
Extra-help employees relieve or augment permanent staff. Temporary, extra-help employees are not in the classified civil service and do not have property rights to permanently allocated positions. In addition, they do not receive most employee benefits such as: long-term disability insurance coverage; accrual of vacation; participation in the County retirement program; or eligibility to take promotional examinations. Temporary, extra-help employees are limited in their employment to a maximum of one calendar year. *Salary is negotiable. Bilingual positions require English and Spanish skills at either the basic (conversational) or fluent (reading, writing, and conversational) level. A bilingual examination will be conducted prior to employment to confirm level of skill. The bilingual premium pay of $1.15 cents per hour begins upon the assignment of a bilingual caseload.

Minimum Qualifications
Any combination of education and/or experience that would provide an opportunity to acquire the knowledge and abilities listed.
Education and Experience: Normally, a Baccalaureate degree with emphasis in public administration, communications, journalism, public information, education, marketing or closely related field AND two years of full-time experience in marketing, public relations, or event management activities.
