Upon Completion of Academy $63,032.00 (EMT-B) – 68,157.00 (A-EMT) Annually
Idaho National Laboratory Fire Department is seeking highly motivated candidates choosing to enter the
physically demanding field of firefighting. INL-FD is interested in hiring honest men and women with
positive attitudes, high moral character, who are accountability for their actions and have integrity
consistent with INL values.
Job description:
This position serves as a Fire Fighter 1 and must perform a variety of emergency mitigation services in
structural and wildland fire suppression, technical rescue, hazardous material releases, and emergency
medical incidents. Firefighters will operate medical and fire/rescue related tools, equipment, and
instruments in addition to pickups and ambulances. Other discipline related activities will also be
performed.

Selection process:
1. All qualified candidates who pass initial screening will be offered an opportunity to interview
2. Top candidates from initial interviews will be offered an opportunity to perform the Firefighter
Agility Test. The candidate must complete the test in seven minutes or less to pass
3. Candidates who successfully pass the agility test will be offered a second interview. Final
selection will then be made to fill all vacant positions.
Qualification requirements:
Must be certified as Emergency Medical Technician-Basic or above
Two years previous fire or EMS service experience (or) technical degree in lieu of experience
Must be able to obtain a Department of Energy “L” Security Clearance
Must meet the physical and medical requirements defined by National Fire Protection
Association (NFPA) 1582, “Standard on Comprehensive Occupational Medical Program for Fire
Departments”
Must have a valid driver’s license
