Mechanic/Welder
Ada County Highway District is now accepting applications for the position of Mechanic/Welder in the
Fleet Department. Starting wage is $25.10 - $28.90 per hour / DOQ.

Primary Responsibilities:
• The Mechanic/Welder is responsible for welding, cutting and heating various broken machine parts
and castings as well as laying out and cutting steel from flats, channels and angle irons.
• The incumbent operates hand and power tools such as a grinding machine, power hammer, power
hack saw or sheet metal roll and break.
• Performs mechanical repairs to trucks, automobiles, and heavy construction equipment.
Qualifications:
• Must have considerable knowledge of metals, alloys and standard shop practices and techniques
used in welding, cutting, brazing, heating and shaping metals.
• Must have considerable knowledge of welding, fabrication and equipment repair hazards and safety
precautions.
• The incumbent must supply his/her own tools.
• Must have considerable experience as a welder/fabricator including experience in the repair and
general maintenance of heavy-duty construction equipment; completion of a recognized
apprenticeship or schooling program; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training
which provides the required knowledge, skills, abilities.
