Environmental Programs Coordinator
Applications are now being accepted for an Environmental Programs Coordinator in the Engineering Division at Ada County Highway District in the Boise, Idaho area. This is a full-time, exempt position with a starting wage of $64,688 - $74,464 annually, DOQ. • The Environmental Programs Coordinator applies technical environmental and regulatory knowledge and skills to plan, coordinate, and implement the District’s environmental compliance and regulatory activities pertaining to applicable local, state and federal agencies.
• Provides technical assistance and guidance to technical and professional staff as well as temporary employees and consultants.
• Requires considerable knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local environmental laws, regulations, and permitting which specifically includes wastewater, surface water, groundwater, solid waste, and air quality as they relate to the District’s transportation operations and activities. This includes but is not limited to: Clean Water Act (CWA) —National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES), Section 404, and spill prevention, control, and countermeasures (SPCC); National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA): Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA); and underground storage tanks (UST).
• Requires considerable knowledge of environmental science, geology, soils, chemistry, hydrology, biology and general engineering principals and terminology.
• Must have proven ability to research, interpret, and apply complex environmental regulations; read and interpret engineering plans and drawings; coordinate multiple projects, programs, and priorities; prepare technical reports and permit applications; communicate clearly and concisely both in writing and orally.
• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or Geology along with a minimum of four (4) years progressively responsible experience in environmental and regulatory compliance programs is desired.
• Or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skill, and abilities may be acceptable.
