Communication Specialist

Applications are now being accepted for the position of Communications Specialist in the Communications Department. The starting wage is $19.62 -$22.55 per hour / DOQ. Primary Responsibilities: · Under the supervision of the Senior Communications Specialist, the Communications Specialist will provide technical and logistical support and expertise to the Communications Department and other District staff in the area of public involvement and project support. · Works with project managers and consultants to facilitate public involvement and outreach on proposed or pending projects, including organizing and initiating public involvement opportunities such as virtual and in-person public meetings/open houses, and writing and designing presentation materials, advertising materials, surveys, and construction notifications. · Translates technical data into written and visual information for a general audience to encourage public participation in District projects.

Qualifications: · Must have considerable knowledge of computer software and operating systems in support of publication production, preferably Adobe Creative Suite with an emphasis on InDesign · Knowledge of Federal, State, and Local agency regulations concerning open meetings, records, and reporting requirements is a plus. · Proficiency with e-mail marketing platforms (MailChimp, Constant Contact, MyEmma, etc.) a plus. · Experience in public relations or communication field or graduation from college or university with emphasis in Public Relations or Mass Communications; OR any combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities is acceptable.
